Unit-এর শুরু হতে এ পর্যন্ত আমরা Prepositon-এর সাধারণ (general) কিছু ব্যবহার দেখেছি। পরীক্ষায় এ ধরনের সাধারণ ব্যবহারের পাশাপাশি Appropriate Preposition সংক্রান্ত ব্যবহার এসে থাকে। Appropriate preposition হচ্ছে “যথোপযুক্ত Preposition” অর্থাৎ কতিপয় স্বতঃসিদ্ধ ব্যবহার (fixed uses) রয়েছে যেখানে নির্দিষ্ট word-এর পর নির্দিষ্ট Preposition-ই ব্যবহৃত হবে। এগুলো অনেকটা idiomatic use-এর পর্যায়ে পড়ে। নিচে Board Ques. এবং পরীক্ষা উপযোগী অতীব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কিছু Appropriate preposition-এর উদাহরণ দেওয়া হলো-
1. abbreviation for (শব্দ সংক্ষেপণ)- What is the abbreviation for ‘Save Our Soul’?
3. abide by (মান্য করা)- Corrupted people don’t abide by the social rules.4. abide in (বাস করা)- He abides in Dhaka.
5. ability to (কোন কিছু করার সমার্থ)- He has the ability to work at a stretch for six hours.
6. able to (সক্ষম) – She is able to help them.7. abound with/in (প্রচুর পরিমাণে বিদামান থাকা)- The Padma abounds in/with fishes.
8. absence from (অনুপস্থিতি)- She had absence from work.
9. absent from (অনুপস্থিত)- He was absent from the meeting yesterday.
10. absolve from/of (মুক্ত করা)- I absolve you from all your sins. The court absolved him of all responsibility for the accident.11. absorbed in (কোন কিছুতে নিমগ্ন থাকা)- She was absorbed in her book.
12. abstain from (বিরত থাকা)- You should abstain from smoking.
13. accede to (সম্মত হওয়া)- He acceded to demands for his resignation.14. acceptable to (গ্রহণযোগ্য)- We want a political solution that is acceptable to all parties.
15. access to (প্রবেশাধিকার)- They only have access to the farmhouse across the fields.
16. accessible to (অভিগম্য)- These documents are not accessible to the public.17. accommodate to (খাপ খাওয়ানো)- I quickly needed to accommodate to the new schedule.
18. accord to (প্রাধান্য দেওয়া)- Our society accords great importance to the family.
19. accord with (সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ হওয়া)- These results accord closely with our predictions.
20. according to (অনুসারে)- Everything went according to plan.21. accountable for (something) (কৃতকর্ম বা সিধান্তের জন্যে দায়ী)- Someone must be held accountable for the killings.
22. accountable to (Somebody) (কারও কাছে দায়ী)- Politicians are ultimately accountable to the voters.
23. accuse of (অভিযুক্ত কোন কিছুতে বা কোন কিছু করতে)- The man was accused of theft.
24. accustomed to (কোন কিছুতে অভ্যাস্ত)- He is a person who is accustomed to having eight hours of sleep a night. A good boy is accustomed to hard work.25. ache for (প্রবল ইচ্ছা পোষণ করা)- I was aching for home.
26. acquaint with (পরিচয় বা অবহিত করা)- There I became acquainted with a boy named Jerry.
27. acquit of (অভিযোগ থেকে অব্যাহতি দেওয়া)- The jury acquitted him of the murder.28. add to (যোগ করা)- A new wing was added to the building. Trees add beauty to our lives.
29. addicted to (আসক্ত)- He is not addicted to any bad thing.
30. adept in (দক্ষ)- He is adept in music.31. adequate for (পর্যাপ্ত)- The space available is not adequate for our needs.
32. adhere to (লেগে থাকা)- She adheres to teaching methods she learned over 30 years ago.
33. adjacent to (সংলগ্ন)- Our farmland was adjacent to the river.34. adjust to (খাপ খাওয়ানো)- It took several seconds for his eyes to adjust to the dark.
35. admire for (গুণকীর্তন করা)- I don’t agree with her, but I admire her for sticking to her principles.
36. admit to (সম্মত হওয়া)-She admits to being strict with her children.37. admonish for (ভর্ৎসনা করা)- She was admonished for chewing gum in class.
38. adorn with (সজ্জিত হওয়া)- The house is adorned with a lovely rose.
39. advantageous to (সুবিধাজনক)- A free trade agreement would be advantageous to both countries.
40. affection for (প্রীতি)- I have a great affection for New York.41. affinity with (সম্পর্ক)- Sam was born in the country and had a deep affinity with nature.
42. affix to (সংযুক্ত হওয়া)- The label should be firmly affixed to the package.
43. afford to (সমর্থ হওয়া)- We cannot afford to go abroad this summer.44. afraid of (ভীত)- Children are afraid of snakes.
45. aggrieved at (ক্ষুধ)- He had every right to feel aggrieved at the decision.
46. agree to (কোন বিষয়ে সম্মত হওয়া)- Do you think he will agree to our proposal?47. agree with (কারোর সাথে সম্মত হওয়া) I do not agree with you about this.
48. aim at (লক্ষ্যস্থির করা)- He aimed at shooting the bird.
49. alarmed at (ভীত সন্ত্রস্ত)- She was alarmed at the problem of traveling alone.
50. alert to (সতর্ক)- We must be alert to the possibility of danger.51. alien to (বিপরীত বা বিরুদ্ধ) The idea is alien to our religion.
52. alive with (পূর্ণ)- The pool was alive with goldfish.
53. allocate for (বরাদ্দ করা)- A large sum has been allocated for buying new books for the library.54. allow for (অনুমোদন দেয়া)- How much time would you allow for the trip?
55. amazed at (বিস্মিত হওয়া)- I was amazed at her knowledge of French literature.
56. amenable to (বাধ্য বা অনুগত) He seemed most amenable to my idea.57. amused at (আনন্দিত হওয়া)- They were all amused at his stories.
58. angry with (রাগান্বিত)- She is angry with them.
59. annoyed with (বিরক্ত হওয়া)- He was beginning to get very annoyed with me about my carelessness.60. answer to (উত্তর)- I can’t easily give an answer to your question.
61. antidote to (প্রতিষেধক)- There is no known antidote to the poison produced by the fish.
62. anxious about (চিন্তিত)- He seemed anxious about the meeting.63. apathy towards (বিতৃষ্ণা)- He has a great apathy towards his studies.
64. appalled at (শঙ্কিত)- They were appalled at the waste of recyclable material.
65. apparent to (স্পষ্ট)- It soon became apparent to everyone that he couldn’t sing.66. appetite for (আখাঙ্কা)- The public has an insatiable appetite for scandal.
67. apply for (আবেদন করা)- He has applied for the job.
68. appoint to (কোন কাজে নিয়োগ করা) – The authority appointed him to the post.
69. appologise to (ক্ষমা চাওয়া)- You must appologise to him for your misconduct.
70. apprehensive about (ভীত সন্ত্রস্ত)- I was a little apprehensive about the effects of what I had said.71. apprised of (জ্ঞাত হওয়া)- I was apprised of the fact.
72. appropriate for (যথোপযুক্ত)- Jeans pants and shirts are not appropriate for a formal party.
73. approve of (অনুমোদন দেওয়া)- Do you approve of my idea?74. argue with (তর্ক করা)- We are always arguing with each other about money.

78. aspire to (প্রবল আখাঙ্কা করা)- She does not aspire to riches.
79. assault on (নির্যাতন করা)- A significant number of indecent assaults on women go unreported.
80. assent to (সম্মতি)- The director has given her assent to the proposals.81. asset to (সম্পদ)- I am sure she will be an asset to the team.
82. astonished at (বিস্মিত)- My parents looked astonished at my news.
83. astounded at (বিস্মিত)- She looked astounded at the news.84. at any cost (যে কোন মূল্যে)- Money at any cost should not be our target.
85. attached to (সংযুক্ত)- The research unit is attached to the university.
86. attempt to (চেষ্টা করা)- They made no attempt to escape.87. attentive to (মনযোগী)- They are attentive to their studies.
88. authority on (বিশেষ জ্ঞান/প্রজ্ঞা)- He had authority on English.
89. averse to (বিমুখ)- He is not averse to any hard work. (DB
90. aware of (অবগত)- She is aware of the fact.91. at large (সাধারণভাবে)- Our surroundings at large teach us.
92. atone for (প্রায়শ্চিত্ত করা)- A sinner atones for his sin in the long run.
