As soon as একটি phrase। যেইমাত্র, যখনি, তৎক্ষণাৎ, তক্ষুনি— এরূপ অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে এ phrase-টি ব্যবহৃত হয়। কার্যত, একটি ঘটনা ঘটার ঠিক পরেই আরেকটি ঘটনা ঘটে এমনটা বুঝাতেই as soon as ব্যবহৃত হয়। এ phrase-টি clause linker হিসাবে complex sentecnce-এ ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন—
  • I’ll drop a letter as soon as I reach Kolkata.
  • The train left as soon as I reached the station.
  • As soon as the criminal saw the police, he ran away.

What… like মূলত একটি question construction যা দ্বারা How এর অনুরূপ ধারায় কারও অভিজ্ঞতা সম্বন্ধে প্রশ্ন করা যায়। যেমন-

  • What was your exam like?~ Fine. I think I did ok.
  • What was your holiday like?~ Not wonderful. The hotel was awful.
What …like এর সঙ্গে -ing যুক্ত করেও বিশেষ অর্থে অভিজ্ঞতা সম্বন্ধে প্রশ্ন করা যায় । যেমন—
  • What’s it like living in Girona?~ It’s all right. Girona’s quite a lively city.
  • What’s living in Girona like?~ Brilliant. Girona’s got a lot to offer.
লক্ষ রাখবে, How … দ্বারা কোনো ব্যক্তি বিশেষের স্বাস্থ্য কিংবা মনের অবস্থা সম্বন্ধে প্রশ্ন করা যায় এবং একই সঙ্গে what ব্যক্তির character সম্বন্ধে inquiry করতে হয়। যেমন—
  • How’s Bob today?~ Very tired, I would say. He was out all night at Tricia’s Party.
  • What’s Bob like?~ Very sociable. He’s the life and soul of any party.
  • What’s his wife like?~ She’s serious and shy. I’ve never seen her smile.
কারও আচরণ surprising কিংবা silly— এমন অভিব্যক্তি প্রকাশেও what … likel structure-টি ব্যবহৃত হয়ে থাকে। যেমন-
